Learn how to make extra money from home by becoming a website user tester

If you’re like me and you’re always looking for new and easy ways to make extra money online, testing websites and apps for companies is the perfect way to make some super easy money!
Testing websites has been one of my favourite ways to earn a quick bit of extra cash online, and the best part is that there is no experience required to start.
You won’t get rich from testing websites every month, but you’ll be able to earn a couple hundred dollars extra. Just like all of the other little money making hacks we use, every little bit adds up!

What does a Website Tester do?
A website tester will test websites and apps for other companies.
These companies will pay head websites (that we’ll get into below) a fee to find people (like you) to use and judge certain aspects of their websites.
There are a couple goals that these companies have when hiring someone to test their website. One is to make sure that their websites and apps are working correctly and free of bugs and glitches. And another goal is to get the opinions of the users regarding the website experience.
They want to know if you enjoyed their website layout, if their website is missing certain features that you usually look for on a site, and other small details like that.
If you’ve ever been on a website before (and since you’re reading this, you obviously have!) than you’re qualified to be a website tester!
The websites aren’t looking for highly educated IT developers to judge their websites. They’re looking for people like you and me who are going to be using their websites on a daily basis.
Tools needed for Website Testing
Some website user tests are done on a phone or tablet, and others are done on a laptop/desktop computer.
Sometimes you will be required to relay your testing by simply typing what you found, and some websites will have you record your opinions out loud for the companies to listen to. Each website will tell you ahead of time what technique they use for their user testing.
This short list of tools will have you set up and ready to get started:
- a computer and/or smartphone
- internet
- a webcam (I use the one built in to my laptop), or you can use this one that snaps onto your computer
- a microphone (I use the one built in to my laptop) or you can use this one that connects to your computer via USB
Getting started with Website Testing
I always recommend that you sign up with multiple websites so that you increase your chances of making more money. You may not get rich doing this, but if you join multiple websites, you’ll definitely earn a nice bit of extra money!
Another tip that I have is that you should try to do a good job when you’re testing these websites. If you give detailed answers and cover everything that the companies ask of you, you’ll be far more likely to get more tests and you’ll stand out ahead of the other people that aren’t putting in very much effort!
Sites that pay you to test websites and apps
1. User Testing
User Testing is one of the first website testing sites that I’ve ever used, and they’re still one of my favourites.
User Testing is easy to use, and the pay is great. They usually pay about $10 for every 10-20 minutes of testing, and they pay out via PayPal which I love.
2. Enroll
Enroll is a quick task website that pays you for completing very short tasks. The jobs are easy and small, and so is the pay. This a good option to get started with because of the simplicity of the tasks, you’ll find your groove quickly.
3. UTest
UTest is another very popular user testing website that a LOT of people make good money from.
If you do well on your initial tests and as you continue on, you’re more likely to be given even more tests to complete.
4. Userlytics
Userlytics is a very user friendly user testing website that I’ve been using for quite a while. They offer a bunch of ways for you to test the websites they give you, and you can earn $10 per test!
5. Userfeel
Userfeel pays you $10 per test, and each test lasts about 10-20 minutes.
Another thing that I really like about Userfeel is that they offer tests in 40 different languages which opens up the options for a lot of people!
6. Test IO
Test IO is a very high paying user testing website that pays as high as $50 for every bug that you find.
If you use multiple devices, the tests that you receive will increase because you’re able to test for bugs on multiple devices.
7. IntelliZoom Panel
IntelliZoom Panel offers short studies that last about 10-20 minutes. You’ll share your experience, and in return you’ll be paid $10 for a study and about $2 for a survey.
8. MyCrowd
MyCrowd pays you to find bugs and run tests on the websites that they provide.
9. Testbirds
Testbirds pays you to look for website bugs to improve the websites and apps that you’re testing.
The pay makes this one of the best user testing websites. The pay is $25 for every usability test, and you also earn an additional payment for every bug that you find.
10. Ferpection
Ferpection is a popular user testing website that pays you to test websites, apps, and software from your phone or tablet.
You review the app or website, write up your feedback, and get paid with their varying pay scale depending on the size of the test.
11. Userbrain
Userbrain pays you to record your thoughts while performing their tests on their Chrome extension or iOS app.
The tests will take 5-15 minutes and you’ll earn $3 for each test.
12. TryMyUI
TryMyUI pays you to judge the websites that you’re testing and vocalize what you like and dislike about each site.
Each test takes about 20 minutes and you’ll earn $10 for each test that you complete.
13. UserCrowd
UserCrowd is a quick and easy test website. The pay is less, but so is the work.
Each test will earn you 20-40 cents, which is much less than a lot of the other websites but the test time is related to the smaller pay – so it’s definitely worth checking out!
Is it worth it to test websites for money?
I fully believe that yes, it is completely worth becoming a website user tester! The ability to make easy money online is something that a lot of us search for, and testing websites from the comfort of your home is one of the easier ways to make extra money!
