I write a lot about how to make money from side hustles and which side hustles will make you this money. But I just realized that not everyone has the same perspective on side hustles as I do, and maybe they haven’t even seriously considered that they should have a side hustle for themselves.

It seems obvious, but I’ve been in entrepreneurial money making mode for so many years now that I forget that the majority of people still view the traditional day (or night) job career route as the right path and don’t even really consider that they could be making extra money for themselves on the side.

The job market has become a very fickle place, and for a lot of people, having income from a side hustle is the only way to stay afloat and make enough money for yourself and your family so that you don’t fall behind.

If you could use some extra money and haven’t seriously considered pursuing a side hustle for yourself, read my reasons below on why you need to have a side hustle and really consider them.

I think that everyone deserves to make enough money to have financial freedom and stop stressing about money, and I believe that side hustles are the way to do that!

1. A side hustle gives you financial freedom

If you’re so completely flush with cash that you never stress about money, I’m truly happy for you. If you’re like most people and need more money to pay your bills and live a life without stressing about money regularly, side hustles are the way to reach that financial freedom.

There is room for growth in a lot of different careers, but definitely not all. Some employers give raises regularly to their employees, and a lot don’t.

The odds are that we’ll never be completely satisfied with our salaries from our regular jobs because most of us are underpaid.

At every ‘regular’ job that I’ve ever had, I wasn’t making nearly as much as I would have liked to. My time is valuable and limited, and we’re always trading this time for whatever our employer thinks it’s worth.

The only way to break away from your regular salary is to make more money, and a side hustle is the way to make that happen.

2. A side hustle is flexible

Time is something that we can never get back, and your regular job takes a lot of it from you. The beauty of the side hustle is that you’re in charge and you can work on it whenever you can.

If you’re a busy parent, friend, or partner, you know the value of having extra time and how important it is. When you’re calling the shots with your entrepreneurial endeavor, you can work on your side hustle in between other life commitments and you don’t need to miss out on the important stuff like family events or catching up with friends.

3. A side hustle can be grown into a full time income

It’s no secret that I’ve never enjoyed any of the regular jobs that I’ve had, and I was always striving to find success and be able to work for myself.

A side hustle is the way to achieve this success, and it’s exactly how I was able to quit my full time job and work for myself instead!

If you’re not completely happy with your current job and salary, a side hustle is your ticket out.

4. A side hustle is easy to start

I LOVE business ventures that are accessible to everyone, and it’s another reason why I love side hustles so much!

There are so many side hustles available to us right now, and they require very little to start and require no prior experience.

With no prior work experience or education required, a side hustle allows every single person to start making money for themselves and opens up doors that a ‘regular’ job wouldn’t allow for.

Which brings me to my next point…

5. A side hustle teaches us new skills

Instead of receiving formal education for subjects and careers that we may not end up liking and pursuing, a side hustle allows us to test the waters with a variety of business avenues that we likely never would have otherwise attempted.

Whether you’re looking to provide affordable services to other people on Fiverr, selling pictures of your feet online, or de-clutter your house and sell your items on eBay – you will pick up skills and education that you never would have expected.

These skills will help you in everyday life, and they may even lead to a bigger and better side hustle that is now made possible because you have the education needed to make it successful.

6. A side hustle allows you to call the shots

Instead of being told exactly what to do and how you’re going to spend your time while you’re at your day job, your side hustle is completely up to you and you alone.

You are able to pursue hobbies and interests that you already like, or try out something completely different that you’ve always been interested in but haven’t tried.

If you discover that you don’t enjoy a certain side hustle or a certain aspect of it, you can move right along! There are no limits here – you tried it, you learned about it, and now you’re on to the next one.

Your side hustle time is yours, and you’re the boss. Not only will you learn new skills like I mentioned above, but you’ll also experience amazing personal growth that is worth SO much.
