Amazon has been a household name for quite a while now.
With so many people opting for online shopping instead of shopping in stores, Amazon has skyrocketed into our lives and up the revenue ladder.
As a regular Amazon customer myself, I started wondering about all of the different features that Amazon has to offer us.
It got me thinking – wouldn’t it be nice if we could make money on Amazon too, instead of just spending all of our money on this beast of a website?
So that’s exactly what I did!
I started selling products online through Amazon a few years ago, and I can confirm that it is a great way to earn money online.
I’ll get into how I was able to sell on Amazon below, as well as a few other great ways that you can make money online with Amazon.
Instead of giving Amazon all of your hard earned money, start earning some extra money for yourself!
How to earn money online with Amazon
1. Join the Amazon Associates program
One of the absolute easiest ways to make money online through Amazon is to promote the products that they sell!
Becoming an Amazon affiliate is 100% free, and the possibilities for earning are endless.
Amazon pays their affiliates a percentage of each sale that you refer to them, and they also pay you for referring others to some of their services too! Some of them include:
- Amazon Prime (30-day free trial)
- Kindle Unlimited (30-day free trial)
- Audible (30-day free trial)
- Amazon Music Unlimited (30-day free trial)
- Amazon Family (30-day free trial)
- Amazon Home Services
- Amazon Kids+ (30-day free trial)
All you need is a blog, if you don’t already have one you can read my step by step guide on how to start your blog through Bluehost which is the company that I use to run this blog.
Once you have your blog and have joined the Amazon affiliate program, you can start writing blog posts and linking to your favourite Amazon products.
After you decide what niche you want to focus on and the topics you want to cover on your blog, writing blog posts and linking to Amazon’s products and services will come naturally with time.

2. Sell your own products on Amazon
If you’re not interested in promoting products already on Amazon, you can sell products on the website yourself!
There are two different ways that you can sell products on Amazon.
The first option is called Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM), which is when you list products on Amazon’s website and ship them to the customer yourself once your item sells.
Since Amazon has been around for so long and has become even more established year after year, listing on Amazon is incredibly easy.
To make your listing process even more efficient and easy, you can list your products directly from your phone.
Your first step is to download the Amazon Seller App (Amazon’s official free seller app), log in, and browse around the app to see what features it has.
The app gives you the ability to list products, edit prices at any time, check and update inventory, and a ton of other details that will help you run your account. I’ve always been incredibly impressed with the app and how simple it makes running your online business.
I’ve been a Merchant Fulfilled seller on Amazon for several years now, and I still sell products on Amazon consistently using this method.
The second way to sell products on Amazon is through FBA, which stands for Fulfillment by Amazon.
This option takes a little more work upfront, but then requires nothing of you once one of your products sell which makes it a great option for semi-passive income.
When you’re selling on Amazon through FBA, it means that Amazon is selling your product on your behalf and will take care of all of the legwork with the customers.
Once you’re in your Amazon Seller account, you’ll create a shipment and enter all of the products that you’re going to be selling. Amazon will provide you with a barcode for each of these items that you stick directly on your products before you send them in.
The purpose of these barcodes is to differentiate your product from other identical products that other sellers have sent in to Amazon to sell.
I use these 1″ x 2 5/8″ labels for printing the barcode stickers.
Once you have your products entered into the manifest and your barcodes stuck on to your products, you package them all up and send them to the Amazon warehouse.
They’ll give you the details as you go through their system regarding where the package should be shipped to, and even printing out the shipping label at a heavily discounted price to get the package there.
Amazon unpacks your shipment, scans your products into their system, and then everything is ready to sell directly on the Amazon website.
Once your product sells, Amazon takes care of picking, packing, and shipping your order directly to the customer. You receive the payment in your account, and your work is done!
The biggest benefit of choosing the Fulfilled by Merchant route is that Amazon charges less selling fees because you are doing more of the work yourself. If you are able to easily store and ship items yourself, this might be a great option for you.
There are two huge benefits of choosing FBA. The first is that Amazon does all of the work for you once you drop off your initial package en route to Amazon. You don’t need to worry about storing, packaging, or shipping any of your sales.
Another huge benefit is that when you sell through FBA, your products qualify for free shipping for all Prime members.
With Amazon Prime becoming so popular, this could definitely lead to more sales for you because of the convenience provided to your customers.
I also started selling through FBA several years ago, and I can say that both options have their benefits. If you’re on the fence, you could try out both selling strategies and find out if you like both or prefer one over the other!

3. Sell with Amazon Handmade
If sourcing products to sell on Amazon doesn’t sound appealing to you, you could consider making products to sell on Amazon!
Amazon gives you the option to fulfill your orders yourself, or you can send them in as an FBA shipment like I mentioned above.
Similar to Etsy, Amazon launched Amazon Handmade just a couple of years ago, and it’s a marketplace directly on their website geared towards the lovers of handmade products.
If you have a knack for making handmade products that others would like, or if you can come up with ideas that you can turn into handmade creations – Amazon Handmade is the perfect place for you.
I wrote this blog post sharing tips for driving traffic to your Etsy shop that would also help you drive traffic to your Amazon Handmade store!

4. Sell with Merch by Amazon
If you like to design graphics (simple and intricate), Merch by Amazon will be perfect for you!
Merch by Amazon runs directly on Amazon’s website, and you can design the graphic that goes on t-shirts and other products.
Amazon prints and fulfills all of the orders, and you collect royalties simply for creating the design!
You can see some of the graphic t-shirts that have been designed.
This money making option is great because it’s done exclusively online and can be accomplished anywhere in the world, which makes it the perfect side hustle for a digital nomad and anyone else wanting to work from home!
5. Sell with Kindle Publishing
Did you know that anyone can write a book and publish it online?
Writing and publishing has never been as accessible as it is today, and I love how many doors have opened up for so many people because of this.
Whether you have ideas about writing a fictional novel, or a non-fiction educational eBook, Kindle Publishing is the place for you.

Once you have your written work, you upload it to Kindle Publishing and sell directly through Amazon. Amazon takes care of all the behind the scenes stuff like sales and distributing. You just provide the product and set the price.
If you’re struggling to come up with a catchy cover for your eBook, you can hire someone for a few dollars on Fiverr to create the design for you.
One of the hardest parts of selling any product is getting enough customers to view and purchase your products. Amazon helps make this so much easier because they already have the biggest customer base on their website every single day.
6. Earn with Mechanical Turk
Mechanical Turk (also known as MTurk) allows you to make money by doing small tasks online.
Companies often need small and simple tasks completed, so they outsource them while paying a fee in order to free up their own time.
The tasks don’t take very long, and they also don’t pay very much. This option isn’t a promising way to earn a lot of money, but it is a nice additional income that you can work on in your free time.
7. Work from home for Amazon
Amazon is regularly hiring new people for virtual customer service positions that can be fulfilled right from home!
Some customer service types will require phone calls, and other require online chat services.
The availability of job positions is often much higher seasonally, so it’s worth looking into if you have some free time!
You can find Amazon’s virtual job listings here.
and as a bonus idea…
Deliver packages with Amazon Flex
I added this as a bonus side hustle idea because it isn’t a work from home job, but is still a great way to make extra money!
If you have a vehicle and are able to drive around for decent chunks of time with it, you can deliver packages for Amazon as a courier!
Amazon Flex allows you to earn $18-$25 per hour delivering packages. Your rate of pay will depend on what your delivery schedule looks like, but that isn’t a bad hourly income at all!
There are a ton of different ways to earn extra money with Amazon every single day. All it takes is a little bit of hustle and a little bit of your time.
Try one, or all, of these online money making strategies and you’ll be able to enjoy your payday from Amazon in no time!
