If you’re looking to get into affiliate marketing, or if you already have a blog and want to expand the affiliate programs that you promote to help make you money – the Etsy affiliate program is a great way to showcase amazing products from creative artists and make extra money online while doing it!
This post may contain affiliate links to products and services I’ve tried & tested. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you when you use these services.
One of the best ways to make money on your website is through affiliate marketing.
I started buying and selling on Etsy about 10 years ago, so I’ve spent a lot of time on the platform and have seen a lot of cool products during that time.
When pursuing affiliate marketing, it’s important to only promote products and services that you believe in, and Etsy is definitely a website that easily falls into that category!
What is affiliate marketing?
If you aren’t familiar with affiliate marketing yet, affiliate marketing is a way for people to send traffic to another website and the product or service that they are selling.
When you promote products and services that you enjoy with your unique referral link, you’re able to make a commission when someone clicks your link and buys the product or service that you promoted.
It doesn’t cost the customer anything, and the company will pay you the finders fee from their own pocket. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!

During my time buying and selling on Etsy, I’ve seen SO many great finds and unique products that make the marketplace truly one of a kind.
The Etsy affiliate program is great for all bloggers in every niche because of how vast the products offered on the website are. You can find almost every product in every interest represented on Etsy, and that’s why the affiliate program is so perfect – everyone will find something relevant to their blog topics.
If you’re interested in becoming an affiliate marketer for Etsy and want to promote their products on your blog or social media, you’ll find exactly how to do it and some ideas to get you started in this blog post!
How to become an Etsy affiliate
Etsy runs their affiliate program through a company called Awin.
Awin is an affiliate network that houses a large amount of affiliate programs for a huge variety of companies all in one place.
Your first step is to apply to Awin – sign up here!
The process is super easy, and you don’t need an already existing audience to your blog to get approved.
I got approved to Awin shortly after I submitted my application when I first started blogging, and that was when I had 0 visitors coming to my blog.
After you apply to Awin and get approved, your next step is to apply to the Etsy affiliate program.
To join, all you have to do is navigate to the Advertisers page, select Join Programs, search for Etsy, and then click Join Program.
I always like to include 1-2 sentences when applying to affiliate programs just to introduce myself and let them know that I run Killer Finance. I also like to let them know what my plans are after joining their affiliate program – writing blog posts outlining why I like their company, and that I also promote these blog posts on social media.
Etsy has a 99.10% acceptance rate to their affiliate program, so you’re very likely to be accepted!
Poke around the Awin website and you’ll quickly become acquainted with the layout and how to find merchants to apply to.
Once you’re approved into an affiliate program, you can start promoting the company right away.
You’ll find unique referral links and banners for each program that you join. Awin and each of their affiliates want you to be successful as an affiliate for their company, so they’ll do their best to set you up for success and provide you with the resources and help that you need to promote their products!
A great way to help you get more acquainted with Etsy and the type of products that you could write about and promote is to spend a little bit of time on their website browsing around at the different categories and products that they offer.
I’m always discovering new things every time I’m on their site, so I really think that just diving in and surfing around is the best way to discover the best that they have to offer.
Checkout Etsy here and see what products they have!
Post ideas to include Etsy affiliate links
If you’re already brainstorming ways to include affiliate links to Etsy products on your blog than that’s great! If you need a few extra ideas, hopefully this list helps you out:
- Round-up posts: as a reader I’m a huge fan of round-up posts showcasing a ton of product ideas in a quick and easy to read format. Choose a theme or category, and seek out the best products to show your readers
- Gift giving guides: coming up with gift ideas to give everyone in your life can sometimes be a trying task. When you put together a list of the best gift ideas for others to give to their favourite people, you’re taking the guess work away and providing your readers with an awesome resource that they can return to
- Showcase the makers & creators: the greatest thing about Etsy is that it provides such a great platform for every single creator to be found and easily sell their products. Browse around, find products & shops that you love and do spotlight posts showcasing the great makers of Etsy along with their products
- DIY posts: along with already made products, Etsy sellers also sell craft supplies on the platform. You could put together some DIY how-to posts (which are wildly popular lately) including links to the supplies that your readers can buy to make their own crafts and products
- Keep in mind the most popular categories: writing about some of Etsy’s most popular categories will provide you with endless content and endless amazing products to promote. A couple of their most popular categories include: wedding, jewelry, paper & party supplies, and craft supplies
- But don’t forget about the niches that people will search for: writing about some of the less popular niches may not be a huge hit for as many people, but it will be a hit for the right people! For example, there are SO many TV shows and movie fandoms out there. People love to show off their love for these fandoms by repping accessories about their favourite shows and movies. Putting together a round-up list for these fans will be sure to draw in new readers that normally wouldn’t find your site while also providing them with a great resource
Once you’re a member of Awin, you can check out the other great merchants that they have and apply to any that you use and enjoy!
A few of my favourite companies to promote with Awin are Etsy, Fiverr, and Bonanza.
