There are many reasons to want an increased credit score. If your current credit score isn’t as high as you would like or need it to be, there are a few ways that you can help yourself and improve your rating. Follow these tips below to help build your credit score and put yourself in a better position for your future:
- Check your credit history and make sure that everything looks correct. If you see an error that you know isn’t right, make sure to contact the right people and dispute it so that your rating will only include the correct information and is an accurate reflection of your credit use
- Request a higher credit limit. One of the factors that affects your credit score is your credit utilization. If you have a higher credit limit and keep your usage/balance the same as it currently is – your credit utilization is lowered which helps raise your credit score
- Making multiple payments during the month helps keep your credit utilization lower as well. By making micropayments, you’re still charging the same amount to your credit card, but your balance will be lower when your credit utilization is submitted
- Keep credit lines open for a good length of time. By closing a credit card, you’re closing that credit line that your overall credit utilization is calculated with
- Always pay your bills before the due date so that your payment history doesn’t drag down your score
- Use different types of credit to help with your score. As long as it’s something that you can afford, having multiple types of credit such as a credit card, a car loan, and a line of credit will help improve your credit rating
Having a great credit score is beneficial for a lot of reasons, following these tips will help ensure that you’re set up for future success!
