Make money online with your blog using Etsy’s affiliate program to promote handmade products and stores and earn a commission when you send them customers!
This post may contain affiliate links to products and services I’ve tried & tested. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you when you use these services.
Etsy is widely known as an online marketplace where people can sell handmade items, craft supplies, and vintage pieces.
But a not so widely known fact is that Etsy also has a great affiliate marketing program!
As long as you have somewhere to promote them, you can write about and link to Etsy’s wide range of popular products including handmade crafts, jewelry, home decor, digital downloads, clothing, artwork, gifts, and many other items while earning a commission on every item purchased when you send customers their way.
I wrote this blog post about how to become an Etsy affiliate marketer, and I included a few ideas to get you started with writing your own blog posts centered around Etsy.
Your very first step is to become an affiliate for Etsy. Etsy runs their affiliate program through a company called Awin.
Awin is an affiliate network that houses tons of different companies in every category that you could think of.
You first join Awin, and then you can join the Etsy affiliate program.
Once you’re all set up with Awin and Etsy (read How to become an Etsy affiliate marketer for the full guide), you can start promoting Etsy shops and products immediately.
To round out the ideas that I mentioned in my last post a little better, I wanted to expand on them and include a few more Etsy affiliate money making ideas that I’ve used and brainstormed to set you up for the most success possible on your own journey as an Etsy affiliate.
Etsy affiliate blog post ideas
Use some, or all, of these post ideas and once you get the ball rolling I’m sure even more ideas will naturally unfold for you – that’s what happens with me almost every time I write a blog post!
Round up posts
Round up posts are one of my favourite type of posts to read. Some are short and sweet, and some are comprehensive and leave me much better informed than when I started reading the post.
The beauty of round up posts as an affiliate is that they’re the perfect type of post to add a ton of your affiliate links to and it’s a huge benefit to your reader!
The point of all blog posts is to provide value for your readers. Start brainstorming a variety of round up post ideas that would benefit your audience, and you’ll be able to come up with countless round up blog posts that are filled with affiliate links and also make your readers lives much easier.
An example of a round up post that I wrote a little while ago is A Complete Guide to Every Supply You Need to Start your Reselling Business. I included all of the products that I use to help make me money online, and it’s become a resource that quite a few people have used since I published it!
Gift giving guides
I love reading online gift guides, and creating them is fun too! Putting together lists of products for every kind of person in our lives can be a huge resource for your readers, and will also be a huge source of income with your affiliate links.
Holidays like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas are filled with people looking to buy gifts for their loved ones.
Other celebrated moments like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and births are also filled with people looking for personalized gifts to give.
Jump into these celebrations and provide gift guides for every single person and occasion, and your readers will have great lists full of great products that they can refer back to and shop from all year for every occasion that arises!
Write about makers & creators
Writing pieces highlighting the creative sellers who make and sell their handmade and vintage products on Etsy is a great way to dive deeper into the website and show your readers who the faces behind the stores are.
The beauty of Etsy is that the products are made by small shop owners and are individually handmade instead of mass produced and sold by a large corporation.
Writing these blog posts or interviews with the sellers will remind your readers how truly important shopping small is.
DIY product posts
DIY blog posts have become incredibly popular over the years, and DIY and Etsy go hand in hand!
You could create your own DIY products and posts using craft supplies found on Etsy, and then link to all of the craft supplies using your own affiliate links to help others make the same products.
For example, if you want to create handmade jewelry you could use products like charms, chains, and tools. Take photos once you’re done, and then you have a high quality piece of content with your own affiliate links – and you just made a cool product!
Focus on the most popular categories
Writing about the popular categories on Etsy will give you unending content to write about because the market is already so large and growing even bigger every single day.
A few of the most popular categories that you could browse and write content about are:
A few ideas are writing round up posts that were mentioned above, showing off some of your favourite products in these categories, showcasing what’s new & trending, and creating budget-friendly lists for your readers which are sure to be huge hits!
Zero in on small niches to write for more people
Writing about small niches and topics could be a huge winner when it comes to affiliate income.
Small niches may not have as many buyers on Etsy, but it also won’t have nearly as much competition and can result in everybody making good money in the end.
For example, Harry Potter is wildly popular with millions of fans and countless products made and distributed.
Tons of fan accounts have written about Harry Potter, but not all of them have written about some of the more obscure characters and scenes.
By covering the less popular angles, you’re more likely to grab the corner of the market that is interested in those very areas!
You can find my guide on how to become an Etsy affiliate here, and then come back and implement all of these blog post ideas to start generating your own Etsy affiliate income and get rewarded just for sending buyers to their website!
The opportunities for earning money through the Etsy affiliate program are endless, and I’m honestly so glad that I discovered their program early on in my blogging career so that I was able to earn extra money right from the very beginning.
If you don’t have a blog yet and want to start one, follow my step by step guide here and you’ll be ready to start earning an affiliate income online!
