Etsy is a fantastic selling platform that has provided so many opportunities to so many people that otherwise wouldn’t have made the leap to selling their products online. I’ve read many stories about someone hoping to make a few sales on Etsy in order to make a few extra dollars to help support their family, and their shop ended up growing into something they didn’t ever dream that it would be. Although levels of success and sales numbers vary hugely from store to store, one thing that everyone can do to help boost their Etsy shop is creating a blog to go along with their store.
Starting a blog to team up with your Etsy shop will blend together the products you offer with the heart behind them. It will take your store from being just about sales and money and transform it into a community that has a much bigger purpose – and your customers will definitely notice. People like to support a company when they know more about who and what is behind the brand, and a blog is the perfect way to share this with your customers.
I wrote this blog post breaking down exactly how to start your own blog with the same company that I use, so that you can set up your own blog in less than 20 minutes!
Writing blog posts and expanding your brand will help your customers learn more about your company, and be far more likely to stick around and shop with you more often. To help get your brainstorming going, here are some ideas for blog post topics:
- how to use your products
- how to use your products paired with other products that you sell (perfect for upselling)
- newly released products and upcoming product launches (this will grow hype around your products and ensure a more successful launch)
- ‘meet the faces behind the company’ (YOU!). Customers are more likely to care about a company if they know who is behind it
- talk about mission statements and why your brand does what it does
- behind the scenes snapshots showing how your products are made and what goes into packaging them
- gift guide ideas showing different product ideas for the different people in our lives (i.e. Gifts for Mom, Dad, husband, wife, children, teachers, pets, etc)
Writing blog posts that connect people with your products will help continue to sell your products for you as time goes on. These blog posts will show up in Google, other bloggers may refer to them in their own blog posts, and you’ll be continuously showcasing your products to buyers long into the future, and your sales will reflect that consistent exposure.
Building your brand will come much easier when you’re able to offer even more to your customers. Between your Etsy shop and your blog, your brand trust will skyrocket and lead to more sales for your store.
